Energy Management System in Serbia Presented at the Conference in Azerbaijan

The UNDP Country Office in Azerbaijan and the State Oil Industry of Azerbaijan – SOCAR organized in Baku, in the period from 5th to 6th December, two-day conference on energy efficiency and renewable energy. Experts form Europe and CIS region gather on the conference to exchange information and knowledge on existing policies and programmes, as well as good practice cases in this field.  The event was organised as part of UNDP’s ongoing partnership framework with SOCAR through the project “Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions” (NAMA), funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and implemented by UNDP.

The conference was opened jointly by Mrs. Rafiga Huseynzade, SOCAR vice-president and Mr. Alessandro Fracassetti, UNDP Resident Representative who both stressed the social and economic significance of Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions for the success of Global Agenda 2030. After introductory speeches, Mr. Nazim Mammadov, project manager, started the working part of the conference and presented the results of ongoing NAMA project achieved so far. Mrs. Maja Matejic, UNDP Energy portfolio manager, presented on behalf of UNDP CO Serbia and the Ministry of Mining and Energy of Serbia the results of Energy Management System in Serbia, after two years of implementation.
