After a delegation of Moldovan experts visited Serbia last October and became acquainted with the results of the implementation of the Energy Management Information System (EMIS) in our country, the Energy Efficiency Agency of Moldova decided to introduce this system in Moldova as well. EMIS will be first introduced in the capital, Chişinău, which has the greatest number of public buildings, and then in other 32 administrative districts. In this regard, UNDP Serbia experts, Maja Matejić and Dragan Urošević, visited Moldova to provide technical assistance in establishing the system. The visit was organized by the UNDP office in Moldova through the Molodova Sustainable Green Cities project and hosted by project managers Simion Berzoi and Alexandru Rotaru.
During the visit, meetings were organized with Ilie Ceban, Deputy Mayor of Chişinău, with Bejenari Sergiu, Head of Energy Efficiency Sector in the city of Chişinău, with Denis Tumuruc, Head of the Energy Policy Department of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure and with Manole Balan Head of Division for Implementation and Monitoring of the Policies in the Energy Efficiency Agency of Moldova. Moreover, a meeting was organized with Inge Podoroghin, Head of Climate Change, Environment and Energy Cluster at the UNDP office in Moldova. The visit also included a full-day workshop for energy managers from the capital - Chişinău and 32 districts, where experts from Serbia presented the entire energy management system in Serbia (legal and institutional framework, licensing and training system for energy managers, reporting, energy planning etc.) as well as the Energy Management Information System (EMIS). After the presentations, the key features of EMIS were demonstrated to attendees. Workshop participants expressed great interest in the topic and asked a number of questions on practical aspects of introducing the system. Presenters provided answers to these questions along with similar examples from Serbia.
At the end of the visit, further steps were agreed on the co-operation and technical assistance activities to be provided by Serbian experts were specified.
