ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM IN SERBIA

The conference "Industrial Energy and Environmental Protection" - IEEP was held in Zlatibor from 19 - 22 June 2019 in the organization of the Society of Thermal Engineers of Serbia. The conference brought together national and international experts with the aim to exchange information and knowledge on current policies and programmes, as well as on examples of good practice in this field. Over 50 scientific and technical papers were presented. The conference was opened by professor Milan Radovanovic PhD, President of the Society of Thermal Engineers of Serbia, professor Milos Banjac PhD, Assistant Minister in the Ministry of Mining and Energy and professor Goran Jankes, President of the Conference Organizing Committee, who all emphasized the economic and social importance of the sector in achieving the country's strategic goals in the field of energy and environmental protection.

The main objectives of the conference were:

• Analysis of the current situation in the sector in technical, technological, organizational and environmental terms;

• Presentation of current issues around existing legal and technical regulations in the region and in the EU;

• Energy development directions with reference to the latest EU guidelines;

• Presentation of energy efficiency projects and the use of renewable energy sources;

• Adoption of the conference conclusions.

On behalf of the UNDP Country Office Serbia and the Ministry of Mining and Energy of the Republic of Serbia, Maja Matejic, Energy Portfolio Manager and Dragan Urosevic, Project Coordinator at UNDP presented the results of the project "Removing Barriers to Promote and Support Energy Management Systems in Municipalities throughout Serbia " as well as the activities on the introduction of the Energy Management Information System (EMIS) in the public sector.
