The Energy efficiency Programme of the town of Kragujevac from 2018 to 2020, adopted at the Kragujevac Town Assembly session on 27 April this year, was presented at the Town Hall on 13 June 2018. On this occasion, certificates were handed to participants in the training for utilization of the Energy Management Information System (EMIS) which was held in November last year with support of UNDP. The presentation and certificate awarding ceremony was attended by Danilo Savić, member of the Town Council for IT and communication technologies, e-governance and smart town, Ana Radojević, energy manager of the Town of Kragujevac, professor Dr Dušan Gordić from the Kragujevac Faculty of engineering sciences, Dragan Urošević on behalf of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and Aleksandar Macura from RES Foundation.
As a participant in the energy management system, the town of Kragujevac is leading in meeting its obligations stemming out of the Law on efficient use of energy. This is the first town in Serbia to have appointed the energy manager, conducted an inventory of public facilities and utility services, introduced the Energy Management Information System (EMIS), prepared the annual energy balance and report, and prepared and adopted the Energy efficiency programme in line with the methodology recommended by the Ministry of mining and energy.
“Energy efficiency is one of our strategic priorities and manners to promote the quality of life of our citizens. Today we would like once again to emphasize the importance of treating our buildings with behaviour of a good manager, as well as the significance of monitoring of energy and preservation of resources”, says Ana Radojević.
Development of the Energy efficiency programme was commissioned to the Kragujevac Faculty of engineering sciences. The document comprises the energy balance, balance of costs of energy at the town level, and recommended measures based on which it is possible to achieve savings. The programme includes energy balances of all public buildings, public lighting, and public transport, with calculated total energy consumption in physical units, as well as costs of energy presented in financial units. It also provides all costs of fuels which are directly or indirectly allocated from the town budget. The Programme encompassed about 300 public buildings, such as kindergartens, schools, cultural institutions, local communities, administrative buildings, and sports facilities, as well as proposal of measures based on which it is possible to achieve minimum 1% of saving. Following the presentation, certificates were handed to trainees participating in the training for use of the Energy Management Information System (EMIS); the training was attended by 70 participants, within the project for introduction of the energy management system in municipalities of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
“The training related to entering of accounts for facilities in the competence of the Town, i.e. for which the Town pays bills for consumption of fuels and water, into the system. End users in facilities enter the bills on consumption of energy for their facility in the joint database based on which total consumption is defined, so that the energy manager can monitor and analyze it; all this is aimed at achieving savings”, said Dragan Urošević from the UNDP programme who also handed the certificates to the trainees.
