On Thursday, 28 June 2018, presentation of the energy balance of the city of Niš for 2018 was held in the Oficirski dom building in Niš.
The city of Niš is one of the first local self-government units which introduced the energy management system and initiated activities as stipulated by the Law on Efficient Use of Energy. Elaboration of energy balance of public buildings and municipal services in competence of the city is a basis for development of the annual report on energy consumption which has to be submitted to the Ministry of Mining and Energy. Having in mind the size of the city, as well as the number of enlisted facilities and meters where consumption and costs of energy and water were measured, the city of Niš completed very extensive work in record time. In this manner, the city of Niš will meet an important obligation prescribed by the Law on Efficient Use of Energy in a timely manner.
The presentation was held following a meeting between the representatives of the city of Niš, Ministry of Mining and Energy, and UNDP, which took place at the Town Hall. The meeting was attended by Miloš Banđur, deputy mayor of Niš, Branko Andrejević, energy manager of Niš, Miloš Banjac, assistant minister of mining and energy, and UNDP portfolio energy manager, Maja Matejić. Further cooperation between the city of Niš, Ministry of Mining and Energy and the UNDP/GEF Project regarding further development of the energy management system in Niš was discussed at the meeting. After the meeting, the participants gave statements to the media outlets covering the event in which they explained the purpose of the presentation.
The participants in the meeting were addressed by members of the city administration, deputy mayor Miloš Banđur, and energy manager Branko Arsenijević, as well as the assistant minister of mining and energy Miloš Banjac and representative of UNDP Maja Matejić.
In the course of the presentation, results achieved so far in introduction of the energy management system in Serbia and Niš were presented as well as opportunities for establishing cooperation with UNDP for the purpose of extension of technical assistance in introduction of the energy management system in local self-government units.
On this occasion, certificates were solemnly delivered to participants in the training for energy management information system (EMIS) end-users, which was held with assistance of UNDP for 70 trainees in December 2017.
Besides participants in the training for use of EMIS, the presentation was also attended by energy managers from other local self government units which are designated to energy management system.
